My Daughter is An Independent Girl Scout, What Unit Will She Be In and Do I Need to Volunteer With Her?

If your daughter has friends in the same grade as her attending camp with her, she can be placed in the same unit. Please make sure to include that information in her registration.   If your daughter doesn't really know anyone in her grade, she will be placed in a unit with other girls like her.

We would love to have you volunteer with your daughter, we are always in need of adult volunteers.  We understand you may not be able to but we do have certain safety ratios to maintain and if we have a unit of independent girls with no volunteers, that can cause problems.

What Day(s) Are Dad Days and
What Are Dad Days?

Dad Days are Tuesday and Friday.  While we would love dads to volunteer everyday of the week but on Tuesdays and Fridays we have a photographer that will take their picture with their camper(s) that we print and decorate for them to take home.

FAQs

What is a Unit?

Campers are put into units of around 15 other campers of the same grade level. Usually, we group troops together the best we can, but may include other troops or independent girl scouts. Units stay together the entire week and travel as a group to each station based on their schedule.

What is the Ratio of Girls to
Adults in a Unit

We are in need of 1 Adult for every 8 Girls in a Unit.

Ideally, we would like 2 Adults in each Unit and there

will be 2-4 Units in each Grade.

What Grade is My Camper
Considered to Be In?

Your Camper Is In the Grade They Are Right Now.

If your Camper is in 1st Grade as you are reading this, they are considered, at camp, a 1st Grader.

Is There a Dress Code?

Everyone at Camp must wear a shirt that covers the shoulders, no spaghetti straps, tank tops, or halter tops.  This is for everyone's protection from the sun.

Everyone is asked to wear something on their head, a hat with a brim or a bandana. We do suggest a hat to protect the face from burning.

Everyone must wear closed toed shoes with socks.  No crocs or sandals.  The ground at camp can be uneven and places have woodchips or gravel around camp.  Rock climbing also requires closed toed shoes to participate.

Should My Camper Wear A
Swim Suit to Camp?

Should They Bring A Snack To Camp?

Campers may bring a snack to Camp if they think they will get hungry at any time during the day.  Please keep in mind though, they will get an ice cream snack at 2:40 pm. and they also make fun foods at Outdoor cook a couple times a week,  and  of course have their bagged lunch.  If you do send a snack for your camper, please make sure it is easy to eat on the go and will not melt.

Do Campers Bring a
Bagged Lunch Everyday?
What If They Forget Their Lunch?

Yes.  Please pack a bagged lunch for your camper(s) each day of camp.  There may be a day that your camper will make lunch at Outdoor Cook but that will be in their confirmation letter as to which day.

If chaos reigns on your morning and your camper forgets their lunch, make sure they let an adult know at camp, we can provide a lunch for your camper, it may not be fancy, but they will be fed :)

If your daughter tells you they have swimming in the morning, she is welcome to wear her swimming suit to camp.  Please make sure she brings undergarments to change into after swimming.  There are changing rooms at the lake so campers may change before and after water activities.
